«Portrait of the Board of Directors – 2024»: A Study by the School of Finance and NCSA

The study «Portrait of the Board of Directors – 2024» has revealed new trends in the composition and functioning of boards of directors in Russia’s largest companies.

On February 18, the National Association of Corporate Secretaries (NCSA) presented its findings on the «Portrait of the Board of Directors – 2024», with participation from the members of School of Finance. The report highlights key trends and changes in the structure and operations of boards of directors, comparing data from 2014 and 2024.

Key Findings:

  • In 2024, the boards of Russia’s largest companies have maintained their focus on stabilizing their composition
  • The share of independent directors has been growing for the second consecutive year.
  • The number of foreign specialists in Russian boards continues to decline, increasing demand for local experts.

These findings underscore significant shifts in board formation strategies and reflect the current needs of Russian businesses. The participation of School of Finance in this study reaffirms its contribution to the research of corporate governance issues and helps to better understand the dynamics of board development in Russia.
