Course Syllabus

Abstract

The goal of the course is to give students the opportunity to explore data-related professions (data analyst, financial analyst, credit analyst, ML engineer, data engineer, product and project manager), develop analytical skills, build a coding foundation to prepare for potential technical interviews, and delve into finance-related theory from a practical perspective. By the end of the course, students should have improved their data analysis skills and gained a better understanding of how to apply these skills, which will be useful both in a professional setting when looking for a job and in an academic setting when analyzing data for a thesis or research paper.

  • Цель курса – дать студентам возможность погрузиться в профессии, связанные с данными (дата-аналитик, финансовый аналитик, кредитный аналитик, ML-инженер, дата-инженер, продакт- и проджект-менеджер), развить аналитические способности, поставить кодовую базу для прохождения возможных технических интервью и погрузиться в теорию, связанную с финансами с точки зрения практики. На выходе после курса студент должен повысить свой навык работы с данными и понимание возможностей применения этих навыков, что будет полезно и в профессиональной среде при поиске работы, и в академической при анализе данных для диссертации или статьи.

Expected Learning Outcomes

  • Уметь строить базовые модели (линейная регрессия, дерево), понимать структуру финансовой отчетности компаний, понимать принципы расчета PD. Улучшение позиций студента при прохождении интервью на позицию кредитного аналитика, финансового аналитика, аудитора/консультанта по финансовому сектору. Понимать характеристики банковских продуктов, работы финансовых институтов, их влияния на экономику и финансы.
