Faculty of Economics Undergraduate Programmes Get ACCA Accreditation

Thanks to this accreditation, future graduates of the HSE undergraduate programmes in Economics and Economics & Statistics will no longer have to sit the exams necessary to obtain an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (АССА) qualification.

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants is a global professional association that brings together experts in finance and accounting from 173 countries. Over 8,500 companies are accredited as ACCA employers and acknowledge this qualification when they employ staff.

You have to pass several exams in English in order to become ACCA qualified. Accreditation received by these two HSE undergraduate programmes will make this procedure simpler for future graduates.

Graduates in ‘Economics’ and ‘Economics and Statistics’ from 2020 to 2024 will be exempt from 3 of the 9 ACCA exams (‘papers’). Exemption from the F1 Accountant in Business paper is granted to all graduates automatically. In order to gain exemption from the F3 Financial Accounting and F7 Financial Reporting papers, students will have to pass regular exams as part of their undergraduate programme such as Financial Accounting and Reporting, International Standards of Financial Reporting, and Corporate Finance.

‘ACCA accreditation is an important acknowledgment of the quality of the educational programmes offered by the Faculty of Economics, and also of ACCA’s confidence in our graduates,’ said Irina Ivashkovskaya, Head of the HSE Department of Finance, ‘This is an important milestone on our journey to achieve all the nine possible exemptions for ACCA papers. We have also applied for accreditation on the master’s programme in Corporate Finance for papers F3, F7, and F9. We believe this accreditation is essential in confirming the HSE’s status as an international educational centre’.

For more information about ACCA qualification structure and the exemption procedure, see the official website of the association.
