On 2 November 2017 professor of LSE Bryan Eals conducted a practical for students of the master’s programme Financial Economics of the International College of Economics and Finance in the training course of Derivative Securities. The Bloomberg Professional database comprises a data stream on global and national capital markets, transactions with financial assets including transactions with derivative instruments, market liquidity parameters comprising applications presented during stock trading and a stream of news.
The Bloomberg terminal is an irreplaceable instrument for evaluation of companies’ value. It helps to select quickly and efficiently analogue companies for comparative method of assessment of a company value and to see long-run multipliers used to trade these companies in the market.
We have accumulated a broad experience in use of Bloomberg data to solve the issues of risk management. In particular, this empiric basis is used to develop rating and probability of default models for manufacturing enterprises as well as for financial companies.The Bloomberg terminal is an irreplaceable trader’s tool. First, it may be used as a securities database where one may find instruments which can be used for trading and compare their parameters. Second, the terminal comprises a lot of functions and models which facilitate the instruments’ risk analysis and profitability.
At the premises of the School of Finance in room 6303 at construction 3, Shabolovka st. 28/11, there is a Bloomberg classroom comprising 10 computers equipped with 2 monitors each. In the Bloomberg classroom training workshops will be conducted, a specialized series of classes in several financial and economic subjects will be developed.

Ruslana is a product offering information on over 850 thousand Russian companies and approximately 365 thousand Ukrainian companies. The system functionality is similar to the one of Amadeus system.
Zephyr is an M&A database comprising deals all over the world for the last few years. Each deal has a reference to the target company, purchasing and selling company. For the majority of large and medium deals full financial information is given including multipliers and other information. Also, as a rule, the description of a deal provides information on financial advisors, legal advisors and other parties related to it in one way or another.
Amadeus has comprehensive information on more than 20 million public and private companies all over Europe. One may use it to study a report on a certain company, to search for companies by a particular request and to analyze a branch of industry in general. A new Amadeus interface developed in 2011 sped up and facilitated significantly the use of the product. The Amadeus system offers the following information:

Capital IQ provides financial information on companies using various software applications providing to financial professionals a means of analyzing a company position on the market, constructing financial models and completing other financial tasks. Capital IQ serves over 4,200 customers which includes investment banks, investment management companies, private investment funds, universities, consultants and corporations.
The resources Standard & Poor’s Research Insight and COMPUSTAT (Global) offer data for a global market analysis and cover approximately 90% of the global capitalization. A rather easy-to-use software grants an opportunity to obtain reliable financial data and its visual interpretation, companies’ reports, text documents.

The resource Banks and Finance offers over 80 indicators for each particular Russian bank for 12 months (13 reporting dates) including: the sum of liabilities, capital, obligations, deposits, liquid assets, fixed assets, other non-earning assets, credits, interbank credits, securities, profit. Also the database offers the following reference information: data on revocation of licenses and banks liquidation, granting of banking licenses, license extension, change of addresses, change of names; reorganization; opening of branch offices, information on credit institutions with foreign investments; information on import and export of foreign currency by banks; on adding the banks to the deposit insurance system. The database provides search and grouping of banks on the basis of indicators, rendering information in the form of a table of indicators’ dynamics for each particular bank, presentation of indicators’ dynamics in graphic form.
